Stolen copper is almost impossible to trace. CableID built the technology to change that.
Copper cable theft drains billions from economies all over the world every year and cripples the infrastructure that communities rely on — power, water, transport and telecommunications. Strong laws exist in many countries, yet prosecutions rarely follow.
The reason is simple: once a cable is cut and carried away, it becomes anonymous metal. With no way to prove who it belongs to, there is no case — and for the perpetrators, almost no risk.
CableID removes that anonymity.
We give owners of copper infrastructure a way to mark every cable permanently and register it as their own — so stolen copper can be traced back to its owner, instantly, 24/7/365, anywhere in the world.
Two integrated layers
- Patented microdot marking. Microscopic microdots, each carrying a unique code, are injected throughout the cable until it is saturated. Independently tested to survive stripping, cutting, granulation, melting and fire, CableID’s marking stays readable even after the most aggressive attempts to destroy it.
- Blockchain-secured Critical Infrastructure Register. Every marked cable is recorded in CableID’s tamper-evident, time- and user-stamped Critical Infrastructure Register. When a cable is recovered, ownership can be verified in seconds — with nothing more than a smartphone and a simple microscope.
The principle is proven. Microdot marking has already transformed recovery rates in vehicle theft, and law enforcement already knows how to use it. We have engineered that same forensic certainty for copper cable.
The result:
- Recovered cable stops being anonymous scrap and becomes evidence.
